Our Alaska trip was a blast. We traveled by boat from Seward to view Glaciers along the Kenai Peninsula. Glacier caving can sound like gun shots. We flew over and around Denali in a four seat plane. We flew via float plane to survey Misty Fjord. We visited Anchorage and Fairbanks where we traveled on the Chena River in a Sternwheeler. We moved on to the Canadian Yukon Territory and Beaver Creek where they are proud to be 300 miles from nowhere. We traveled along the Alaskan Highway to Kluane National Park, Carcross, and Whitehorse. From Whitehorse we took a train to Skagway along the White Pass and Yukon Route, established in 1898. We then set sail to Ketchikan along the Inside Passage, and on to Vancouver B.C. We ferried over to Vancouver Island, where we stayed at the Empress hotel and visited Butchart Gardens. Among our travels, we panned for gold, learned about permafrost and the Alaskan pipeline. We saw up close and personal caribou, and at a great distance big horn sheep. We watched salmon runs and sea otters play. While out at sea, we saw Orca and dolphin and on our way to Seward we saw Beluga Whale from our bus.
